BikeLabs is an independent motorcycle publication built on research rather than press bikes — clear answers to the questions riders actually ask before they spend money.
What We Do
BikeLabs covers four things: gear guides, motorcycle comparisons, workshop how-tos, and moto culture. Every article exists to answer a specific question a rider might have — which helmet certification actually means something, whether a CB650R or an MT-07 suits the riding you do, how to tell when your brake pads are genuinely finished.
We also build free calculators — gearing, tyre sizing, fuel range, fitment — so you can run the numbers against your own bike instead of taking a spec sheet on faith.
How We Work
We are a research publication, not a test lab. We do not run a workshop or operate a press fleet, and we do not claim hands-on testing we have not done. What we do is read the standards, cross-reference manufacturer documentation against independent certification data and published testing, and translate the result into something a rider can act on.
This is a deliberate choice about what we are good at. A great deal of what riders need to know is already documented — in certification standards, in engineering specifications, in published laboratory results — but it sits scattered across technical documents written for engineers rather than riders. Pulling that together accurately is genuinely useful work, and it is honest work, which matters more.

Our Perspective
BikeLabs is written for a global audience with particular attention to markets that Western motorcycle media covers thinly. The lightweight and mid-capacity machines that dominate roads across Asia, the gear that has to work in sustained heat and monsoon rain rather than a British autumn, the price points that actually apply outside North America and Europe — these get real coverage here rather than a footnote.
Our Standards
- Sourced claims. Specifications, certifications and test results are traceable to the documentation they came from.
- Stated limits. Where a question cannot be answered from the public record, we say so rather than inventing an answer.
- Independence. We do not accept payment for coverage or verdicts. Affiliate commissions never influence a recommendation.
- Clarity over volume. A guide should be the last thing you need to read before deciding, not the longest.
